The Lötschberg Base train tunnel, which links cantons Valais and Bern, has been closed due to flooding.
The tunnel was opened in 2007 and runs below the older Lötschberg Tunnel which carries local trains and car transporters. That remains open.
Swiss Federal Railways says the flood water is up to the tracks and its currently uncertain when the line will reopen.
Trains are being diverted to the older tunnel which is a longer – and slower – trip.
