The food giant Nestlé has announced that it plans to sack 6% of its global workforce in an effort to save CHF 1bn.
In all 16,000 will lose their jobs.
The company’s sales are down – turnover has dropped 2% over the last year.
The news has obviously unnerved workers at the company’s headquarters in Vevey – but management says no decision has been made on how many jobs will be lost in Switzerland – although there will be some. But the company says Swiss based workers won’t be disproportionally affected.
