No plans to buy mass monkeypox vaccines

The federal government says it’s watching the outbreak of monkeypox carefully, but it has no plans to buy vaccines or other medications centrally.

There have been 15 cases of the disease in the country so far.

Following a question by the Green Liberal Party in parliament - the Federal Council says the current data shows only a limited spread – but the Federal Health Office is asking for authorities across the country to report any cases and make sure those infected are quickly isolated. 

The government points out that drugs that have been authorized for use in either the EU or the US can be used by doctors to treat patients if necessary.
