Greens are angry following a cut to night train subsidy.
Plans to cut carbon emissions and persuade people to use trains instead of short haul flights to and from Switzerland could be thrown into disarray after the Federal Council says it won’t be funding night trains next year - breaking a previous pledge.
The government had earmarked CHF 30m to help cover the costs of a night service to Barcelona and Rome from Zurich and Geneva.
But it has now cancelled the cash as part of a cost saving measure.
Green members of parliament are furious, saying it goes against a decision already backed by parliament when it voted on the CO2 law.
