No teachers in PdG

Schools in neighbouring France are suffering due to a lack of teachers.

The main problem is in the Pays de Gex, and is also affecting the international schools in Ferney and Saint Genis.

The issue is pay. France does not make allowances for the high cost of living in the border areas.

There’s also a general lack of affordable accommodation.

Teacher unions say pay needs to be improved as this is an ongoing problem.

But there’s a teacher shortage right across France, although it’s particularly acute in this area.

The same issue of pay disparity is also causing problems in the healthcare sector.
