A group not known for its militancy took to the streets Friday evening in Bern.
Several thousand demonstrated in support of physiotherapists.
In an effort to cut health care costs, the Federal Council, wants to cut the fees that are charged by physiotherapists.
The association Physioswiss says it’s unfair price intervention. It collected 283,000 signatures for a petition supporting its position.
It’s calling on health insurance companies to re-start negotiations to make sure physiotherapists can make a proper living.
Bern police allowed the demonstration despite a rule that no large marches will be allowed in the city until after Christmas. It pointed out that the request was submitted months ago and judged the security risk was low.
