Two gun shops in the Lausanne area have been hit by French robbers within a week.
The Federal Police told the media outlet Watson that French-speaking regions are the most exposed to organized crime from across the border, notably from Annemasse, Lyon, Grenoble, and Saint-Étienne.
It’s unusual for the police to be so blunt about the criminals’ nationality.
National Councilor Jean-Luc Addor of the Swiss People’s Party warns that crime is “out of control” and calls for tougher border checks.
But others say the money will be better spent on local security and not at the border.
