An investigation is underway into the running of the fire station in Chêne-Bougeries in Geneva after a secret lounge with a wine collection was discovered in the attic.
Three senior officers and two others have been suspended. They’re denying the charges.
Other firefighters have taken leave in protest.
It’s not the first time the station has been under the spotlight. In September an audit uncovered bad management with poor vehicle maintenance, out of date equipment and problematic alcohol consumption.
But the report is being disputed and legal action led to the withdrawal of the document.
The situation means the fire station is currently inactive as there aren’t enough staff available to respond if necessary.
