You don’t mess with Prosecco. A Valais winery has just learned that the hard way.
Switzerland’s Federal Administrative Court has ruled that the name “Prosuisseco” is too close to the protected Italian sparkling wine Prosecco.
Judges say the branding misleads consumers and violates international rules. The winery must stop using the name and pay court costs.
But the fight isn’t over — the case is now heading to the Federal Supreme Court in Lausanne.
