Protest follow Alireza's suicide

Campaigners for asylum seekers in Geneva say they will hold a demonstration on Thursday following the death of 18-year-old Alireza from Afghanistan.

The young man killed himself after a court ruled he should be sent back to Greece.

Protestors say the label of Geneva, a City of Refuge, has to mean something – and not used just for decoration.

They’re demanding better accommodation for young adults, social assistance and the option of professional training.

Marchers will first meet outside the Hospice General on the Cours de Rive at 4pm on Thursday and then move to Hotel de Ville.
