Trams and buses will be running normally in Geneva today after unions called off their industrial action yesterday afternoon which allowed the gradual return of services.
Unions have accepted an indexed wage rise of 1.2% and a CHF 400 bonus. The rise is what they had wanted, but were also asking for a CHF 500 bonus.
Wage levels for next year will be set on the inflation rate for next month.
Both sides are claiming victory. The TPG say there’ll be no pay rises for this year.
But the management says yesterday’s extension of the strike was illegal as unions didn’t file notice to allow for a minimum service. But the unions say they had announced a strike – but hadn’t given a notice of when it would end.
