Hundreds of public workers marched in Geneva yesterday in their continuing fight for higher pay and more people to be employed.
Unions say the public service sector is under attack from the right-wing majority in the Grand Council.
They’re calling for a 5% pay rise – instead of the 1% on the table at the moment - and for the previous budget to be honoured which promised 356 new positions. That’s been cut by half by a recent committee.
The 2024 draft budget will be debated next week. Unions say there will be a large demonstration outside the Hotel de Ville while that is underway.
