Record number of G permits issued

Geneva issued a record number of new frontalier G permits last year.

It handed out 25,000 in 2024, the biggest number since records began in 1989.

It’s the third consecutive year the number was above 20,000.

The numbers from the Cantonal Statistics Office show two thirds of cross border workers live in the French department of Haute Savoie and 20% in Ain.

Most of the permits are for new workers, only 600 were for people who had lived in Geneva and moved to France.

The numbers don’t include Swiss nationals who have decided to move to France, nor international civil servants.
