The Chinese technology giant Baidu is preparing to roll out driverless vehicles in Switzerland.
The announcement was made by Yong Gessner, European head of Baidu’s Intelligent Driving Group, in yesterday’s NZZ newspaper.
According to the company, the initial roll out will be in outlying regions, not major cities.
To start with, the cars will have safety drivers on board – but they will be driving themselves.
Baidu wants to partner with an existing transport provider in Switzerland – but talks are still ongoing.
