The sanctions against Russia are beginning to have an impact in Switzerland. All 140 staff who work at the headquarters of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in Zug have been made redundant.
The news of the job losses was announced by the Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin during a television interview.
The pipeline company belongs to the Russian energy giant Gazprom.
Last week Germany stopped the certification of the new line which runs more than a thousand kilometers in the Baltic Sea.
The company in Zug is not responding to requests for comment.
