Swiss Federal Railways will change the announcement which refers to a delay which occurs after a person dies by suicide at a train station.
Since 2015 it called such an incident a ‘personal accident’.
The company says it will now use the phrase ‘external event.’ But that phrase could also be used for any reason a train is delayed if it’s outside the control of the SBB.
The move is mainly designed to prevent copycat events. It’s hoped not referring to an incident directly will change the focus on what’s happened – while maintaining transparency
