A dentist in canton Aargau is raising concerns about the damage some of his patients may be causing to their teeth and gums by using ‘snus’ or nicotine pouches.
The product has been banned in the EU – except for Sweden – but it’s freely available here.
Snus is seen as a healthier way to use nicotine, but Christoph Vögtlin spoke to the paper ‘ArgoviaToday’ and he says its possible that use can lead to a variety of mouth and teeth problems.
But he says more research is needed.
The dentist says most of his patients who use snus are male and young. It’s particularly popular with ice hockey players.
