The plight of bars and restaurants which will stay closed until April at least is getting some sympathy from cantonal politicians – but it seems unlikely local authorities will go against federal rules and allow a reopening.

Geneva state minister, Mauro Poggia, says there’s some justification to allow the risk of some openings – and says growing calls for civil disobedience shows discontentment is rising. He suggests more use of tests to allow more openings.
The Council of State in Vaud is also suggesting there should be some openings next month.
But the health minister in canton Neuchatel, Laurent Kurth, says the decision by the federal government is a good one and cautions against opening too early.
