Switzerland’s labour market remains resilient despite a slowing economy and the impact of US tariffs.
The unemployment rate stayed at 2.8% in September, the same as in August, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.
But, the number of jobless people rose slightly to over 133,000 — nearly 18% more than a year ago.
Youth and older worker unemployment both increased, though their respective rates held steady at 3.2% and 2.5%.
Seasonally adjusted figures show the jobless rate at 3%. SECO says more than 3,400 people exhausted their unemployment benefits in July, a sharp rise of nearly 40% from the previous month.
