Switzerland’s image abroad is still generally positive, but the country’s policy of neutrality has been receiving negative press commentary in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
While the broader public link Switzerland with the landscape, chocolate, watches and banks – as well as having a very high standard of living - there have been negative comments about the refusal to allow Swiss made munitions to be sent to Ukraine.
The agency, Presence Switzerland, which is part of the foreign ministry, monitors how Switzerland is reported on abroad.
It also notes this year the retirement of tennis player Roger Federer was reported on globally as well as plans for a nuclear waste dump near the German border.
