Switzerland will be heavily affected by climate change.
Following the release of the report from the UN’s climate body, the IPCC yesterday – this country can expect droughts, heavy rainfall and shrinking glaciers.
One of the lead authors of the repot, Sonia Seneviratne, a professor at the ETH in Zurich, says the changes will affect ecosystems and agriculture right across Europe.
Federal Councillor, Simonetta Sommaruga, tweeted that this country will commit to effective climate protection measures at the upcoming COP 26 meeting in the UK.
But the IPCC says it may already be too late to save the glaciers. It says they will continue to retreat for decades even if temperatures stabilize.
