The government is planning closer military cooperation with other European countries and NATO.
The Federal Council says the army will participate in 39 NATO exercises as part of the Partnership for Peace programme.
Some exercises will take place in Switzerland. The aim is to increase interoperability and cohesion with other forces.
Talks will start with neighboring countries to exchange more data on aircraft movements. The aim is to be able to identify potential threats before they reach Swiss airspace.
