After ten years of debate, the Jonction park project is finally moving.
Geneva’s City Council has approved nearly 30 million francs to turn the industrial wasteland, the former TPG depot, at the tip of the Jonction into a real park - with swimming access.
The plan was slimmed down to avoid rejection, dropping extras like gardens, but keeping the essentials.
After long discussions, councillors backed the most ambitious option, including a covered space for sports and culture.
Not everyone’s happy about the cost or future opening hours, but the decision is made.
Work is set to start in the autumn.
