A 58-year man and so-called “therapeutic healer” has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexual assault.
Judges at the court in Châtel-saint-Denis found the defendant guilty of acts committed against twelve different victims over fifteen years, including multiple rapes and sexual coercion.
As well as the 12 years in prison, he will have to pay CHF 76’000 to five civil plaintiffs, attend outpatient psychiatric monitoring, and has a lifetime ban on working with vulnerable adults.
The defense leaned heavily on the defendant's limited IQ of 77, but the court deemed the sentence necessary as it was felt he had a medium-to-high risk of re-offending.
The defense is expected to appeal.
