Relief at last for shopkeepers on Geneva’s Rue de Carouge.
After months of protest over lost business during tramline works, the City Council has approved CHF 2m in aid. With contributions from the Geneva transport company TPG and utility firm the SIG, the total package climbs to CHF 3.3m.
Nearly 140 shops and restaurants will benefit. Compensation will cover 115% of their rent for the months when the tram was cancelled, from late June to early December.
