Cantons are awash with lottery money and they don’t know what to do with it.
They’re sitting on over a billion francs – and it’s growing.
Lottery authorities are relaxed at the amount, pointing out that there’s no obligation to spend the money in a certain time frame.
The think tank, Avenir Suisse, says the money should be returned to the people. According to their calculations, everyone could get CHF 115.
Currently the money is generally being spent on culture, sports and maintaining assets deemed worthy. But there’s still plenty left over.
