Tourists worried about USA

The Foreign Ministry’s telephone hotline for travel advice has been immensely busy for the past few months.

Tension has been high ever since a Swiss woman was denied entry to the United States in April. That prompted the Swiss government to tighten its advice for travel to the US.

That is worrying tourists and they’ve been calling the hotline- three times as much since March.

A government spokesman suggest would be travellers contact the US Embassy ahead of time to make sure all the requirements have been met.

But it’s not just entering the country, reports suggest more people are being denied an ESTA authorization even before leaving.

This is all having an impact on the number or people travelling to the States, tourist numbers from  Switzerland are down 26% compared to the same time last year.
