Trade talks with US praised by Trump

Federal Palace, Bern

US president Donald Trump says he’s held talks with senior Swiss officials about trade and the ongoing trade imbalance.

Writing on his platform Truth Social, Trump praised what he called “a job well done” and said his trade representative, Jamieson Greer, would continue discussions with Swiss leaders.

Bern has not yet commented on the meeting or who took part.

Switzerland has been hit hard by Trump’s trade policies, facing punitive tariffs of up to 39 percent on products including watches, machinery, chocolate, and cheese.

It’s among the highest rates imposed on any US trading partner.
