Uber to expand in Switzerland

The ride hailing firm, Uber says it’s looking to expand into more rural areas of the country.

The Swiss head of Uber, Jean-Pascal Aribot, told the NZZ newspaper yesterday the firm’s plan is to collaborate with public transport.

They’ve already been in contact with Swiss Federal Railways and plan to contact Postbus.

Aribot says they see expansion possibilities in areas where the public transport system is less developed.

Uber had to pay CHF 35m in backdated social security payments for its drivers following a court ruling to allow it to continue operations in Geneva.
