A bee keeper in canton Lucerne has lost ten colonies after vandals smothered air holes in the hives, killing the bees.
Each colony numbered around 8,000 bees.
Heinz Schneeberger from Reiden is in shock. He says the bees would have suffered before dying.
The police are involved. It’s unknown if the attack was by a jealous competitor or just a sick joke.
