Nearly 200 drivers have been caught crossing into Switzerland without a valid motorway vignette in recent border checks near Basel
The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security stopped 191 vehicles at two crossings; each driver had to buy the sticker on the spot and pay a CHF 200.- fine.
Swiss drivers actually made up the majority of offenders, at 111 of the 191.
The vignette is required for any motorway use in Switzerland and is easy to forget when driving back from a trip abroad.
