Vignette sticker sales remain strong

Despite the launch of the electronic autoroute vignette, the traditional sticker remains highly popular – to the surprise of many.

Only 3 million have been sold – compared to 11 million stickers.

Many observers expected the e-vignette to surpass the sticker – especially as sales at the beginning of the year were strong. But there seems to be some traditional reasons for the sticker’s stickiness.

The vignette remains a very popular Christmas present – a sticker is better for that and many find the sticker more reassuring.

Foreign sticker sales are also strong. The French and German motoring organisations don’t divert visitors to their websites to the e-vignette site.

They will sell a sticker directly to their members.
