The higher education establishment, Webster, has been banned from using the term ‘university’ in Geneva.
But seems to have found an interesting loophole.
Switzerland changed the law in 2023. It only allows those who issue degrees recognised by the Swiss Accreditation Council to call themselves universities.
The law change hit many institutions in the country – but the Genva Campus of Webster has now got a sign outside which gives the direction to the entry of the campus – and then an arrow pointing out Webster University is 7 and half thousand kilometres away in St Louis, Missouri.
That seems to allow using the word ‘university’ on its sign.
