The world’s steepest cable car opened over the weekend after three years of work.
It connects Stechelberg and Mürren in the Bernese Oberland. It has a gradient of 159.4% - rising 775 meters over 1.1 km.
It’s also fully automated and can run without personnel either in the cabin or at the stations.
It’s also designed to run safely in higher winds than before.
This is just the first section of a three-part run to the Schilthorn, the restaurant at the top of the mountain.
That’s still being renovated and the whole route will be open by March next year.
