In Lausanne, prosecutors have filed around twenty charges against a 56-year-old man who drove his BMW into a pro-Palestine demonstration on September 6.
The accusations include attempted murder and endangering life. Two people were slightly injured when the car ploughed into the crowd.
The driver was arrested immediately and spent two nights in custody. He later insisted he never meant harm, claiming he was simply in a hurry and thought he could drive through.
The incident has stirred debate in the city council. Councilor Léonie Kovaliv, who was there, said she and others felt fear, panic and shock as the car surged forward.
