The Federal Intelligence Service says it is monitoring the activities of 41 people who it considers a threat to the security of the country.
In a statement to the SonntagsZeitung, the service says the radical Islamic scene has been expanding in Switzerland in recent years.
It adds it believes the most likely threat is an attack by a lone individual against a weakly protected target such as a crowd or property.
But it also stresses that there is no evidence of an immediate threat at the moment.
