Geneva anti-pollution activists have unofficially renamed a street in the city to highlight an environmental battle between the left leaning city and the right-wing canton.
The protestors covered the street name for the Boulevard du Pont-d’Arve with a sign reading ‘Rue Polluée – or Polluted Street.
They’re demanding the canton enact a motion voted on by the city which would reduce the traffic lanes to one, make the road only one way and cut the parking spaces.
The cantonal minister in charge, Pierre Maudet, says he wants to evaluate how a new traffic light system is working before making a decision.
