Military organizations are calling on a further CHF 100 bn for the defence budget in the light of the security situation in Europe.
The army’s budget is up by CHF 4bn already.
But the Amoured Troops Officers’ Association and the Swiss Officers Society are pointing out that the miliary budget has been cut by CHF 120bn over the past 35 years - and now there are gaps.
They say the army can no longer credibly defend Switzerland.
The organisations also point out that domestic production of military equipment needs to be improved as this country can’t rely on international partners.
They point out an order of drones from Israel is indefinitely delayed as the country is involved in its own war.
