Cocaine smugglers jailed after mistake

A court in Zurich has sentenced a group of four men who tried to smuggle 44 kilos of pure cocaine into the country through the airport - worth CHF 1.5m.

They were sentenced to jail terms between 4 and 7 years.

They almost got away with it - they managed to get through customs and made it to a hotel.  But police were soon on their trail after one 10 kilo bag of the drug had fallen out of the luggage and remained on the carousel.

They avoided the possible maximum sentence of 10 years as they all pleaded guilty.
