Wildlife authorities in canton Thurgau are stepping up their fight against the Asian hornet and are joining forces with their German counterparts.
The invasive species hunt bees and are capable of wiping out entire colonies of honey bees.
There have been several reports of the hornet around the Lake Constance area which straddles Switzerland and Germany.
Experts are capturing the hornets and then placing tiny radio transmitters on them. They’re released and will then hopefully lead exterminators back to their nests.
The hornet was first detected in Switzerland in 2017.
