Fine for using dead woman's bank card

A Geneva woman has been fined for using a dead woman’s bank card – running up a bill of more than CHF 60,000.

The 50-year-old was previously employed by the deceased and had access to her card as she helped with day-to-day tasks.

She kept the card after the death of her employer – and continued to use the car for around a year.

The court heard she bought clothes and beauty products.

The deceased’s son noticed the withdrawals and filed a complaint.

The woman was given a suspended fine of CHF 6,000.

The son will now claim the money back through the civil courts.
