A former clergyman in canton Schwyz is going to jail for 6 months for swindling money from members of his congregation in order to fund his gambling habit.
Between 2009 and 2018 he conned more than CHF 3m out of his parishioners.
When he filed for bankruptcy, more than 70 people came forward to complain.
In addition to 6 months locked up. He was also given a three-year suspended sentence.
The lenient punishment was in recognition of his willingness to assist authorities and undergo treatment.
