Recent reports indicate that job cuts across United Nations agencies and programmes may affect between 20,000 and 30,000 positions globally.
The Tribune de Genève has posted figures across the board including UN AIDS, which it reports will see the most dramatic cuts - as its Geneva workforce will drop from 127 to 19 people.
IOM, who employs a workforce of 22’000 will eliminate 3’200 positions, including 200 in the Geneva headquarters.
Gavi has announced 155 job cuts in Grand-Saconnex.
The UNHCR is cutting more than 30% of its staff worldwide, including 3’500 jobs.
The WHO could see a reduction of up to 40% of its Geneva-workforce.
The UN secretariat is likely to see 20% of its 35’000 go, or 6’900 positions, including around 1'000 in Geneva.
The majority of these cuts are a direct response to the US contributions having dropped from USD 1.54 billion to USD 264 million.
