The city of Geneva is so pleased with the results of its ‘Night Correspondent’ programme, it will be expanded.
The night correspondents are small teams roaming the streets between 6pm and 2am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The aim is to reduce feelings of insecurity, control noise nuisances, incivility, and cut street harassment.
The mayor of Geneva, Christina Kitsos, says the feed back from the public to the police has been positive. A full report will be published early next year.
The idea is also spreading – other communes in the canton are also examining it.
