Geneva is admitting some city residents were being experimented on this winter – and not told about it.
In twelve residential buildings, affecting 150 people, the heating was turned down one or two degrees in an effort to save energy. The experiment was to see if anyone noticed.
It was felt if people were told about it, they would feel cold by reflex.
The heating level only affected common areas, the residents still had control over their homes.
The mayor, and Green Party member, Frédérique Perler says the aim is to highlight energy use.
Although Swiss French Television says some residents did complain, the mayor says she’s not aware of complaints and eagerly awaits the formal results in May.
