The Federal Government is planning to pile on the pressure on the unvaccinated by October and end free testing.
The health minister, Alain Berset, says the country is getting ready for the last stage of Covid restrictions – the normalization stage.
He says any adult who wants a vaccination could have had one by now.
While there are no immediate changes to the current rules, there is an important change in how the government will decide what happens next.
Instead of examining the number of cases – it will now be how the health system is coping with the virus.
If hospitals are not too stretched – then life will begin to return to normal.
Berset says it will have to be accepted the virus will continue to spread amongst the unvaccinated, and those refusing a vaccine can no longer rely on government protection.
But authorities are realistic what that means. The Federal Health Office says there will be more hospitalizations - and therefore deaths.
