Swiss authorities are stepping up the fight against the Asian hornet, the deadly bee predator.
Starting October 1st, cantons can use approved biocides to destroy nests in forests, following a government rule change.
The goal: hit the hornets this autumn and curb their spread next year.
The invasive species is exploding. Nearly 400 nests were removed in French-speaking Switzerland last year alone, compared to just ten two years ago.
These hornets pose a real threat to honeybees and wild pollinators.
