It seems school children have been using a trick for the last several months to get more time off school with a fake positive Covid test.
A report in the Sonntagszeitung newspaper suggest the kids worked out that using a soft drink – Capri Sun being a favourite – they can make a test show positive.
All it takes is a few drops onto the test strip or in the fluid and the test will show positive.
With a positive test, they have to stay away from school for five days.
The reason it works is straightforward, the drink is slightly acidic which changes the PH value and triggers the second infection line.
It’s not certain how many were using the trick.
