A major piece in a complex transport puzzle was opened yesterday.
As part of the long running rail expansion in French speaking areas – called the Léman 2030 project -a new 1.2 km train flyover welcomed its first trains in Renens in canton Vaud. It means a frustrating bottleneck has been cleared for trains running from Lausanne to Geneva.
It’s taken eight years to build and cost CHF 280m.
The new bridge also opens up a fourth line which will help punctuality.
Around 670 trains will use it every day.
