From next week drivers used to taking the back roads to avoid the border crossing at Bardonnex will find their journey much more difficult - and that’s by design.
New traffic lights are being installed at the border crossings in Soral and Chancy, with the express aim to hinder traffic.
They will only operate during rush hours.
Although the system was agreed in 2018, the installation has been delayed due to technical problems and then Covid.
One work around had to be designed to make sure the buses were not held up.
While it will be frustrating for the commuters – it’s being welcomed by local residents.
